Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, dancer, and singer. She began her Broadway career by performing in musicals, such as Wicked Blonde, and Hair. Her first Tony Award was given to Ashford for the role of Essie Carmichael, in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashley Tony Award winning actor and actress has worked alongside actors, directors and stage and screen for all of her career. Ashford's next venture will be a limited edition Hulu show called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show premieres on November 22, and Ashford will be starring opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford is in the process of completing production on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust starring opposite Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film is undoubtedly a Hulu Original and will be streamed on Disney DTC. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford will return to Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford has acted as Paula Jones, the main actor in Ryan Murphy's brand new FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. It's based on a national scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other major characters. Ashford appeared for two seasons in CBS successful comedy B Positive. In addition, she appeared on the successful series that was created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. A veteran of Broadway Ashford has won both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her performance as Essie. In addition, she was on Broadway as a character in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde as well as the original part in the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for the Tony Award. Ashford was born in Denver, now spends time in between Los Angeles & New York.
